Bring something you'd like to mend and get some guidance, advice and tips from Mary-Ellen our facilitator, or just bring something you are already darning or patching and mend-along with others.
One of 3 hand-sewing, mend-along sessions being offered on the 3rd Sunday of each Winter month.

Upholstery for beginners
Ideal for anyone wanting to get started in upholstery!
Our facilitator, Kelly, will be discussing and demonstrating upholstery basics in the first 2 hours of this session. And for the last hour, Kelly will provide participants with advice about their own projects. So bring along something you’d like to upholster and get some advice about where to start. Note: this isn’t a hands-on workshop.
Kelly will cover the different ways you can tackle projects and the basic tools you'll need.
There will be lots of tips and tricks that will give you confidence to breathe new life into tired old pieces of furniture and get you started on a creative, rewarding and very addictive hobby!
Facilitator Kelly Armati hosts creative workshops and jewellery popups in Coburg and has been flipping and upcycling rescued furniture for over 15 years. @shiner_creative_workshops

Introduction to power tools
– Beginners hands-on workshop (no experience expected)
In this 3-hour, hands-on workshop, facilitator Kelly will teach you how to use some essential repair and refurbishing power tools, and you'll get to use them in a safe and supported environment.
Kelly will explain about different drills, sanders and saws, what to use them for and how to use them safely. There will be plenty of time for practising so you can build your competence and confidence.

Lamp repair – cord replacement
Learn electrical basics with facilitator Michael, who will show you how to replace lamp cords, switches and sockets.
Bring a small lamp if you'd like to have a go on the day. Or come along and learn what you need to know to repair a lamp at home.

Hand tools for beginners
Level: Beginners - anyone with little-to-no experience using hand tools.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to use basic hand tools including hammers, hand saws and drills. You'll also learn about safe use of tools, types of timber, and nails, screws and bolts. And you'll be able to practise and build confidence making a sauce caddy to take home.

Learn the basics of machine sewing
You'll learn how to thread a machine and stitch in a straight line - and get to practise by turning a scarf into a versatile throw-on jacket you can wear all year round!
Our facilitator, Kerin, will take you through the easy-to-remember process, first demonstrating then guiding you as you create your own. Sewing machines are provided.
Bring along your own scarf or choose from a selection of op-shopped scarves available to purchase (op-shop prices!) at the workshop.
Facilitator, Kerin Bryant, of Remaki, hosts workshops and sells hand-made upcycled fashion and homewares with the goal of inspiring people to make the most of the resources at hand.

Sustainable furniture repair – 2-day workshop
Level: Beginner - Intermediate
In this 2-day, hands-on workshop, you’ll have access to workshop tools and a woodworking teacher to support you to repair or upcycle your own project.
Bring a small timber furniture piece, (e.g. a chair, stool, small table or drawers) and learn how to identify what needs to be done and how to research repair techniques.
